The aim of this redevelopment was to transform the Station into a multimodal hub, connected to the Sherbrooke city transport network and interregional coaches. Following the closure of Station du Dépôt in 2019, ridership at Station du Cégep de Sherbrooke has increased considerably. An average of 629 buses a day use the site. Located in front of the Palais des Sports and the Cégep de Sherbrooke, this station is operating at full capacity, and the site has seen very few modifications since it was commissioned in the early 2010s.

Four of our engineering disciplines were involved in this project: civil, structural, mechanical and electrical. Our team had to maximize utilization and increase the number of service docks and loading docks. An access was added towards rue du Cégep to offer drivers greater flexibility and avoid congestion on the service road during major events at the Palais des Sports. On the structural side, we designed a new building and enlarged an existing one. The main service building had to be enlarged to better accommodate customer traffic. An outdoor area, reserved for employees, was created at the rear of the building. Modifications to the universal toilets were designed to discourage vandalism.

The new station offers a wide range of transport options:

  • Parking for cabs and car-sharing vehicles
  • Electric vehicle terminals
  • Loading dock for regional and interregional
  • Secure bicycle rack
  • Electric bike stands
  • Access control for buses and authorized vehicles
